Also, It mentions that the fish was put into the lake in May of 1940 and was caught four years later. This would make the year 1944 and is further corroborated by the fact that July 15, 1944 falls on a Saturday. According to robert_canfield Bob Canfield, img-max_hoover.1944 is a picture of Max and that same trout. The leaves are still on the tree in the background suggesting late summer or early fall, very probably not later than October 15. robert_canfield Robert Canfield remembers the event, and says that he may have taken the picture. ⁵⁾
